The 2015 Unibet Open Cannes is for many the highlight of the month, particularly for poker players who are 1456618_10152012094818830_286070287_n1not hooked on online action and prefer land-based casinos.

These guys had their chance to win a lot of money last week in Cannes, but only a couple of players actually walked away with significant payouts.

Not surprisingly, the number of poker professionals was pretty high and they came from all over the world including the United States.

At the end of the day it was a European won the main event, a competition that has a buy-in of €1100 and a first prize of exactly €80,000. Unlike other tournaments where the prizes differ depending on how many players sign up, the structure he was predetermined.

The competition was intense and until the final table was decided, many poker professionals were eliminated while the ones he left in the race struggle with tiny chip stacks and succumbed soon after.

Julien Sitbon achieved a couple of great things throughout the tournament and perhaps his most important accomplishment is that he managed to defend his chip lead.

At the final table he had to personally limit a couple of opponents as he got involved in two be part, but this only helped him win the title. Three handed play began with Florian Ferroni from France putting up quite a fight but the local favorite was unable to maintain the tempo for long enough.

There was no agreement regarding the manner in which the chips were to be split among the finalists, so the battle raged until the final hand was dealt. When heads up began it was the player from France and Karl Stark from Sweden who were still standing and the local made short work of the Scandinavian.

At the end of the day he fully deserved this victory and for his performance he collected €80,000, while the runner-up had to settle for €60,000.

These were the final table results at the 2015 Unibet Open Cannes and the prizes claimed by the top nine:

1 Julien Sitbon France 80,000
2 Karl Stark Sweden 60,000
3 Florian Ferroni France 37,500
4 David Hefner Sweden 27,700
5 Joachim Kleiven Norway 20,800
6 Jussi Heikela Finland 16,600
7 Loic Francois France 13,800
8 Pierre Antona France 11,100
9 Fred Weiss France 8,650
